When I was a kid I used to play pretend
Oblivious those times would one day end

I would pretend I was an astronaut
Exploring deepest space
I'd use my pillows as a rocket ship
And the blankets as the caves

Sometimes I would imagine
That I was on TV
I used a box as the frame
And cut a hole for a screen

I would always swing a bat
Pretending that I played
Baseball in the sun
While drinking lemonade

I always thought I was a doctor
With my plastic stethoscope
Healing all the animals
With cotton and some soap

I would pretend I was on stage
Strumming air guitar
Singing in a microphone
Into a sea of endless

LifePassion.
When you do something because your gut tells you to
When you do something for the love of doing it
When you do something with no monetary goals.
Love
is When it doesn’t matter how many times you talk to someone,
                Every time you do it again, it’s a new, exciting, experience
When you do your job without ever having to work
When you can look in the mirror and feel pride without vanity
When a smile is on your face and you don’t know how it got there.
Happiness
The state of being when you
                do what you Love, and Love what you Do;
                                have Love and Passion

I Comfort MyselfWith a warm drink, whispering secrets to my own reflection.

The struggles that plague me, though none may know,

Are only for the ears of my quiet mirror, who smiles

Softly, warmly and with care. He tells me, I'm fine

I've done well for now and soon I may finally rest.

Though the silence continues to press upon me,

Weighing upon my soul like an iron crate.

Still I find comfort in whispering secrets,

If only to my own reflection - holding a warm drink...

I guess you might not, since I wasn't very important to you.

You know, I spent so many days thinking about - what I did wrong

I questioned if maybe, I was at fault or if I was screwed up.

The things that were my fault, my problems.

I took them to heart at first, but then I realised you were wrong.

I realised that you are selfish and ugly on the inside.

On the surface you pretended to care, but like a cancer;

You amputate someone the moment you think they've gone bad.

You hide from the rigours of life and only emerge l

To be better

I try to be perfect
I want no fault
All for you

I only wish to be everything
And give you everything
I didn't know
I was hurting you

Again and again
You told me I was fine
There's nothing wrong
I should have understood
And accepted myself

We all have faults

I just wanted to reach the impossible
I wanted to be perfect

That Girl In The MirrorHappiness will remain forever out of reach

Not the girl they thought you’d turn out to be
When you were a neonate child
Born with a raging heart and a raging mind
But with a manner ever so mild

Your scars aren’t always visible to them
And not only hidden under attire
Lacerations to the mind are just as abhorrent
When memories and dreams conspire

Grow UpWhen I was young,
I knew a girl.
She was so warm and bright,
so I asked her that question
that all children must answer.

'What do you want to be
when you grow up?'

Her eyes lit up with joy
and she jumped with excitement.

'A dancer!
No, an astronaut!
Wait, President!
A scientist!
I'll be famous
and in movies!
My name
will be everywhere!'

She listed so many more
until she finally just smiled
and looked at me with eyes filled
with child-like wonder.

'I could be anything I wanted.'

Years and years later,
I saw the same girl again
but her eyes no longer
lit up with wonder.

I asked her,
'What did you end up being?'

As the metallic taste in my mouth draws out
A barking cough, forced out
By the dirty nicotine lining my lungs.

See the blade of stubbornness
That slices across my cheek bone;
An amalgamation of all the times you pushed me.

See the residue in my eyes,
The remnants of all those times you forced me
And I forced myself not to cry;
Those tears condensed into a thick blinding syrup
That colours all things red.

See the crinkle in my nose,
The wrinkles on my heart
As I remember how you didn't love me. (Don't love me).

See the burns on my psalms
And fingerprints singed off
By all the times you called me nothing

The White ThingsNothing is as far away as a minute ago.
No matter how hard you row against the tide
we can never reach it, never return there.

It's hard to sleep in the light of my regrets
that creeps through curtain and barriers
to rot away and bleach all things white.

It's hard to sleep knowing that no distance
is as far away as sixty small seconds ago.
Immalleable, we rot, and things turn white.

Every now and then across the water at night
A lady can be seen dressed in long silky white
She dances along the water as elusive as a bird
Her beauty so astounding I can not put into words
Her movements so graceful they shift the moon’s release
On the gravity of the earth; every crevice and crease
If the world were to fall apart around her piece by piece
Her dancing would never cease but only increase

And I wait for every day to end so I can say
I have seen this great maiden by the bay

The flowers enveloping her sing in harmony with the bees
The trees bend their barks and their branches tease

I know I can do this
I need to put the bottle down
I will clench both my fists
And keep my feet on the ground

I need to conquer this trait
I will try to fight myself
And not drink another day

But its just one more bottle
A shot would be even smaller
Yet every time I drink
The trees look so much taller
My imagination runs haywire
These drinks don't fix anything
Instead my mind conspires
And brings out the worst in me

True feelings I can't face
Watching the world spin
A small price for its foul taste
Destroying my insides within
I have a terrible disease
So expensive and so vain

Beyond The HorizonWe ran out of our homes
And our dream quelling streets
Until mud under foot
Had replaced the concrete

From suburb to city
On to the countryside
We were running away
But not trying to hide

The world was still spinning
Faster than we could move
Though our hearts were breaking
Our poets' words would sooth

We left a cloud grey town
And in time reached the sea
Our home for so long
Evolution tells me

To the deepest warm blue
From the coolest pitch black
Shackles fell with each stroke
With our dreams still intact

Guiding us from the deep
Every league of ascent
Reinforced our belief

Practice Poem - Poor Little TimmyPractice Poem - Poor Little Timmy:

Down into well, poor Timmy fell,
Down he fell into the pits of hell.
Brought into hell by an eldritch spell,
Poor little Timmy who fell down the well.

Alone he cowered and shivered and shook,
He shook for hours, so long it took,
So long it took for him to feel well,
Well enough to explore this hell...

Through pathways littered with scenes most gory;
Most gory indeed was little Timmy's story,
A story of fear and suffering defined,
Poor little Timmy, he ran out of time...

I long for hope that burns inside of me
Because there are so many things that I've never seen
So many places that I've never been
So much beauty that has yet to begin

This hope I long for that burns inside of me
Is the means and reason for me to believe
In all the things I've known and everything I have
For things can never really be that bad.

This hope I have is what pushes me forward
Slightly northward and around the corner
Its what gets me by each and every day

I'd be pretty if I'd just smile
If I'd cut my hair a certain way
And cover myself up in that chemical crap you call make-up
But did you ever think that just maybe...
I don't wanna be pretty
That I just wanna be me
Who cares if no one ever calls me beautiful
Who cares if I'm never asked to dance
Hell I don't even know how to dance anyway
I don't care how the world sees me
I only care how I see me
And I think there's nothing wrong with the girl in the mirror
Sure she doesn't smile much but that's cause she's going through hell
Her face may look plain without any make-up
But that's just the way I like it
An old pair of jeans
The first t-shirt could find
My hair in a braid
I'm ready to go
To where no one cares just what I look like
Least of all me
It's a barn full of horses
That's where I choose to spend my days
Where no one cares about what I wear
Where I never have to hear "I'd be pretty if I'd just..."
